* Network Requirements
17
DTXr can run stand alone without any active network connection. In that case the management pages is accessible via localhost interface. But for DTXr to be a fully functional BACnet/IP device it must be connected to an IP network that offers IP address via DHCP and where broadcast traffic is allowed.

* Drag blocks from the toolbox onto the workspace.
474
* Connect blocks to form logic chains.
475
* Right-click a block to duplicate, delete, or collapse it.
476
* Zoom and pan with the mouse wheel or gestures.
477
478
All changes in the workspace are local until *Save* or *Activate* is pressed.

h5. Toolbox Categories
483
484
The toolbox is organized into logical categories:
485
486
* JSON
487
  - Blocks for constructing and parsing JSON objects.
488
* Logic
489
  - If/else, comparison, boolean operations.
490
* Loops
491
  - Repeat operations.
492
* Math
493
  - Arithmetic and numeric values.
494
* Text
495
  - String operations and concatenation.
496
* Variables
497
  - Create and manage global/local variables.
498
499
*Events (DTX-specific)*
500
  - Triggers for analog or binary input changes
501
  - Astro events
502
  - Timers
503
  - Incoming text messages
504
  - Diagram object push events
505
506
*Set value / Read value (DTX BACnet extensions)*
507
  - Write analog, binary, lighting outputs
508
  - Read analog or binary values
509
  - Compare input states
510
511
*Timed tasks*
512
  - Cron-like scheduling
513
  - Start, cancel, pause, resume timers
514
515
*HMI*
516
  - Update graphical objects or maps in diagrams/HMI pages
517
518
*Code*
519
  - Insert raw JavaScript statements
520
  - Create custom return statements
521
  - Handle function call events
522
523
*Misc*
524
  - Print to log
525
  - Date/time
526
527
*Notifications*
528
  - Send email from block logic
529
530
These categories combine to cover automation, BACnet control, HMI interaction and notifications.

534
h5. Running and Activating Code
535
536
*Test*
537
Executes the block logic one time, useful for debugging.
538
539
*Save*
540
Stores the block script but does not run it automatically.
541
542
*Activate*
543
Saves and deploys the block logic to the DTXr runtime engine.
544
Activated logic will:
545
* Run automatically on device startup
546
* Respond to events immediately
547
* Allow scheduled logic to trigger without manual execution
548

551
h5. Sidebars and Console
552
553
*Left Sidebar*
554
May contain the workspace tree or additional contextual tools.
555
556
*Right Sidebar*
557
Displays block metadata, help text or generated JavaScript depending on configuration.
558
559
*Footer Console*
560
Two areas are available:
561
* *Log* — printed output from print blocks or runtime
562
* *Activity* — messages about system behavior, activation, parsing, etc.
563
564
Both areas support resizing using draggable split panes.

h5. Working With Devices in Blocks Mode
569
570
The device selector is present but indicates:
571
572
*“Not applicable in Blocks mode”*
573
574
This is because Blockly logic always runs locally on the device that hosts DTXr.
575
Remote devices cannot be programmed using the Blocks Editor.
576

578
579
h5. Saving Your Work
580
581
The block workspace is saved in the device’s internal configuration.
582
A backup is included when exporting system configuration via the File Integration tools.
583
584
*Important:*
585
If block logic interacts with remote devices (reading/writing values),
586
use *Refresh* in Objects view to ensure the remote values have been updated recently.
587

589
590
h5. Error Handling
591
592
When errors occur:
593
* The error message appears in the log console
594
* Pop-up notifications show parsing or execution issues
595
* Common issues include:
596
  - Missing block connections
597
  - Undefined variables
598
  - Writing to unavailable BACnet objects
599

602
h5. Best Practices
603
604
* Keep block structures grouped and well-organized
605
* Name variables clearly
606
* Use print statements during development
607
* Test frequently before activation
608
* Avoid long chains inside event triggers
609
* Use timers for repeated actions, not loops

h2. DTXr Web Interface – End User Documentation
647
648
*Important:*
649
When selecting a *remote BACnet device*, the object list and notifications *do not update automatically*.
650
You must press *@Objects → Refresh@* to reload the data.
651
652
For the *local device that hosts the web page*, all updates (property changes, events, alarms) are received *in real time*.
